Currency
Cuba uses two currencies. We will primarily use the CUC which trades at roughly one CUC per one US Dollar (minus an exchange rate fee on the conversion) Local transactions (non-tourist) are usually completed with a Cuban Peso. The exchange rate for Cuban Pesos is 25 per CUC (or about the equivalent of 25 Cuban Pesos per dollar. However, Cuban Pesos are not traded at the currency exchange offices. Ask you local guide/translator to help you obtain a few Cuban Pesos in exchange for a CUC. Tourist type sites or transactions will be performed with CUC’s while street vendors and small shops will likely trade with Cuban Pesos.
Currency Exchange (Cambio)
Currency Exchange can be performed at the airport or at a hotel and the normal exchange rate is about 87 to 92 CUC per $100 USD.
Credit Cards
