Medicines
Team members should bring along all necessary personal medicines. Assume that you will have no access to necessary medicines should you run out during the trip. Over the counter medicines are not always available and teams may want to coordinate who might bring various OTC medicines should anyone have need. Benadryl, benadryl lotions or sticks, steroid cream and upset stomach medicines should be included as well as small hand sanitizers.
MOSQUITOS - Travelers should be prepared for the country-side with long sleeve shirts and long safari type pants especially for the evenings when mosquito exposure is the highest. Mosquito spray is also recommended. Mosquito bite avoidance is wise as many tropical illnesses are carried via the bug bites.
Humanitarian Medicine
Each team should bring an assortment of OTC medicines to leave with churches and pastors for distribution to the local community. We are allowed up to 10 kilos (20 pounds) per person of unopened medicines and vitamins.
Prescription Medicines
Do not travel with prescription medicines that are not filled with your name. It is not lawful in the USA to travel or be in possession of medicines that are not prescribed to you. If you fill a prescription for someone abroad, it should be prescribed to an nindiciual and have a doctors note describing why you are in possession of such items (humanitarian aid).
